“I’ve never sought fame or fortune” – Sushant Singh Rajput on the unsatisfactory performance of Sonchiriya

The 2019 Sushant Singh Rajput and Bhumi Pednekar starrer didn’t really do so great at the box-office but that didn’t seem to worry the actor. Directed by Abhishek Chaubey, the movie had a deficient box-office collection of about INR 6 crores.

In talk with IANS, Abhishek says,“I had no illusion about the box-office (collections) of the film. I knew it is not going to rule the box-office because it was a niche film. I wanted to tell a story I thought (was) worth telling. Of course, I did not think of the film to make so less money that it would affect the producers, but from the beginning we knew we were making a niche film.”

Late actor Sushant Singh Rajput gave out a statement while talking to Masala! saying,”I’ve never sought fame or fortune. Never been enamoured of the  100-crore club.”

After the death of Rajput, the actor’s ex-publicist and extremely good friend Rohini Iyer posted a series of pictures on her Instagram where she wrote a heartfelt caption on what an impeccable and generous man he was. She also mentioned that he never cared for money. She has witnessed him returning cheques worth crores.

“I’ve seen him return pay checks worth crores. If he wanted to switch his phone off and go farming or fishing, he would.”
