Kangana shouldn’t make Justice for Sushant about herself – says Swara Bhasker

For the uninitiated, Kangana Ranaut and Swara Bhasker have been engaged in a Twitter War ever since Kangana called Taapsee Pannu and Swara ‘needy outsiders’ and ‘B-grade actresses’.

Kangana had also accused Taapsee, Swara and Richa Chadda of trying to deviate the topic from Justice for Sushant.

In an interview with TOI, Swara Bhasker shared her take on Kangana’s remarks and stated that name-calling deviates the conversation. She also added that if Kangana wanted the conversation to be centered around Justice for Sushant, she shouldn’t make it about herself and her personal vendetta.

“If Kangana wants this conversation to be about justice for Sushant, she shouldn’t make it about herself and her personal vendetta” – says Swara

“I think when you call your colleagues “Chaaploos, chaatney waaley, needy outsider, B grade actress!” and other such flattering adjectives, the conversation tends to get deviated. I think that if Kangana wants this conversation to be about justice for Sushant, she shouldn’t make it about herself and her personal vendetta. She should celebrate Sushant, not deride everyone else.

Swara also shared her opinion on Nepotism, saying that she had always maintained that “everyone agrees nepotism exists in Bollywood”.

However, she said we need to go deeper than individual name-calling and understand the structure to change it for better. She also highlighted that with OTT platforms, things are getting better for Outsiders.

“I’ve always maintained that “everyone agrees nepotism exists in Bollywood”. I’ve gone as far as describing Bollywood as ‘feudal’. It’s just that I think there are structural reasons for that and we need to go deeper than individual name-calling and understand that structure, if we want to change anything for the better. I actually questioned Karan Johar about the ‘feudal’ nature of Bollywood on camera in 2016. But on a positive note, I think with the proliferation of OTT platforms and the audience becoming more appreciative of newer stories – things are opening up for ‘outsiders’.”

Swara’s fav performances of Kangana were Rani in ‘Queen’ and Datto in ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’

Swara also said that she didn’t hold people’s opinions against them, and called Kangana a ‘top notch actress’ and a ‘great performer’. She even went on to say that her favourite Kangana performances were – Rani in ‘Queen’ and Datto in ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’.
