Recently, in a tweet, which is now deleted, Kangana had allegedly misidentified an old woman (Ms. Mohinder Kaur) at the ongoing farmer’s protest in New Delhi as Bilkis Bano, aka ‘Shaheen Bagh dadi’. She had claimed that Bilkis Bano was available to make an appearance in the protest for Rs.100.

On 29th November, according to Times Now, Kangana tweeted, “Ha ha ha, she is the same dadi who featured in Time magazine for being the most powerful Indian…And she is available in 100 rupees. Pakistani journos have hijacked international PR for India in an embarrassing way. We need our own people to speak for us internationally.

Reportedly, Bano was sitting at her home at Shaheen Bagh and wasn’t a part of the farmer’s protest.

As per Hindustan Times, Advocate Harkam Singh from Punjab’s Zikrapur, in the legal notice dated November 30, suggested Kangana should have authenticated information before posting it on social media and demanded an apology over her tweets within 7 days.

“I sent a legal notice for a tweet misidentifying Ms Mohinder Kaur as Bilkis Bano with an insinuation that she (Ms Kaur) was available as a hired protestor for Rs 100. The notice gives Ranaut 7 days to issue an apology failing which a defamation case will be pursued,” Harkam stated.

The notice states that Kangana’s remarks have not only “degraded the image of each lady and each person” but also the farmers who are “protesting for their rights.”

The notice stated, “It is to inform you that the said lady is not a fake lady. Her name is Mahinder Kaur and she belongs to Bathinda. She is the wife of farmer Labh Singh Nambardar. She in her life, has always remained connected with fields and filed work and she is the wife of a farmer.

“That by tweeting in such a manner, the same also points out towards the fact that the protest which is being conducted by the farmers, is being conducted by bringing persons on rent. Such low thinking from you, who herself is lady and celebrity, is not acceptable,” the notice said.

It further added, “That you have further made a mockery of the farmers who, by putting their life to risk, have been protesting for their rights. It is known to one and all that in the said farmers’ protest, a number of farmers have already lost their lives.”

After being slammed by netizens for spreading ‘fake news’, Kangana deleted her tweets, in which she allegedly misidentified the dadi with Ms. Kaur.
