As reported by Pinkvilla, Zafar is helming a feature film for an OTT platform and Diljit Dosanjh will be headlining this human drama – set against the backdrop of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots!

Whoa, that’s quite a heavy topic.

1984 Anti-Sikh riots

The 1984 riots, also known as the 1984 Sikh Massacre, had broken out after Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her Sikh bodyguards Satwant Singh and Beant Singh on October 31, 1984. More than 3000 Sikhs were killed in Delhi and an estimated 8000 nationwide!

Interestingly enough, Diljit was also born in the same year that the riots took place – 6 January 1984.

Elaborating on the project, a source told Pinkvilla – “It’s a feature film that Ali is directing for an OTT platform and he has been shooting for it over the last month on sets as also some real locations in Delhi. While Ali was initially planning to just produce the film, he was completely immersed in the scripting process and as the story took its final shape, he decided to even step in as the film’s director too.”

According to Mid-Day, the makers plan to roll out the film next week.
