Throwback To When Sriti Jha Of Kumkum Bhagya Fame REVEALED She Is Asexual; ‘Learnt To Lie In Words And Moans’

Indian television actress Sriti Jha shot to fame with her role as Pragya Abhishek Mehra in the Hindi soap opera Kumkum Bhagya.

However, she is also known for her way with words in the form of poetry, an art she loves persuing quite often.

Two years ago (2019), Sriti had performed her poetic piece about being lesbian titled ‘Chaabi Gum Gayi Hai’ at India’s Spoken Fest. The video had grabbed a large number of eyeballs and went viral in no time.

As for a more recent piece from the actress, Sriti had performed during the 2020 Kommune India Spoken Fest a poem on what being ‘asexual’ feels like. Titled ‘Confessions of an asexual romantic’, Sriti admitted to being a part of the ‘asexual’ community and boldly stated she ‘wasn’t the only one’.

Jha recites, I kept falling in love, sometimes better other times worse, but it (sex) was never on my mind and that seemed to be my curse. So I kept avoiding it and eventually I did ‘it’ but it didn’t seem meant to be. Everytime it happened I knew I wasn’t really being me.

“I learned to lie in words and in moans,” Jha continued, capturing hearts of many. I learnt to lie because I didn’t want to lose. And I was in love, who was I to choose? This is not bashing my lovers or even my friends. This is not bashing sex either, this is not to prove me greater, I do not celebrate celibacy, I’m not a sex hater.”

The actress concludes by saying, “I am not incomplete or in any way less, I am complete but confused. Isn’t that such a beautiful mess?”

Sriti Jha has also performed poetry on other topics too.
