“Who Is Giving Me 5 Cr?” -Taapsee Pannu Opens Up On I-T Raids At Her House!

Last week, the Income Tax Department had raided houses of Taapsee Pannu, Anurag Kashyap, Vikas Bahl, Madhu Mantena and Vikramaditya Motwane.

Offices of Phantom Films (now dissolved) had also been raided. The IT officials had said that discrepancies worth Rs 300-350 crores were found in the raids.

Taapsee breaks silence on the Income Tax raids

Now, Taapsee and Anurag have been known to be outspoken critics of the government. Netizens had even started speculating that the raids were a result of a vendetta against the duo for speaking up against the Centre.

In an interview with NDTV, Taapsee has cleared the air around the matter saying that she has “nothing to fear” and had no idea why the raids took place in the first place.

“If I have done something wrong, I will serve the punishment. I have answered all their questions and if there is anything wrong it will come out. It’s not like I can hide anything. My family and I co-operated with the IT department.” She told NDTV

Calling the raids ‘intimidating’, the Pink actress further elaborated – “There is no way to find out (why the raids) because these are highly confidential procedures. When IT raids happen, there is no option but to follow procedure,”

Taapsee addressed the ‘5 crore’ speculation as well – “Media joined the dots and said ₹ 5 crore receipts were mine. IT department did not say that ₹ 5 crore receipts were found at Taapsee’s house. I was wondering who is giving me ₹ 5 crore. There were stories of me having a bungalow in Paris!”

On the work front, Taapsee is all set to reunite with Anurag Kashyap for a time-travel movie called ‘Dobaaraa’.
