Vivek Oberoi made his Bollywood debut with Ram Gopal Varma’s iconic gangster movie Company in 2002. While there is a strong nepotism debate going around, it wasn’t apparently easy for Vivek to convince RGP that he could pull off the character of Chandu.

Did you know Vivek lived in slums for 3 weeks to prep for his role in Company?

Talking to IANS, Vivek revealed, “’Company’ was a dream debut for me! At that time, it was the most unconventional debut and I cherished the opportunity RGV gave me and dived into the character. I rented a ‘kholi’ and lived in a slum for three weeks to prepare and transform into Chandu Nagare. 19 years today and I wouldn’t change a thing! (I have) Deep gratitude for this dream that became a reality!

Earlier, the Saathiya actor told HT that RGV wanted to cast someone who looked like a gangster from the slums. “I told him to give me 15 days. I stayed in the slums. I slept on the floor like others did, with big mouses around. I used the public toilets. I had started looking like the part. On the day, I was supposed to meet him, I took out some mud from a plant at his office and applied it on my face. I walked into his room, with a beedi in my mouth — I sat on the chair and kept my legs on his desk, and said, ‘Ey yeh thobda kya dekh raha hai’. That convinced him,” he added.

Vivek Oberoi will next be seen in popular TV actress Shweta Tiwari’s daughter Palak’s debut movie Rossie: The Saffron Chapter.
