Did You Know Why Vikram Batra’ Biopic Movie Is Named ‘Shershaah’?

Fans are eagerly waiting to see Sidharth Malhotra-Kiara Advani’s jodi onscreen in ‘Shershaah’.

Directed by Vishnu Vardhan, the biopic is based on the brave Captain Vikram Batra who was martyred during the 1999 Kargil War with Pakistan.

One might wonder about the reasoning behind the film’s title ‘Shershaah’. Well, ‘Shershaah’ was Vikram Batra’s codename. In an interview before his death, he had divulged that the Pakistani army was using the same radio frequency as the Indian military and had become privy to his codename.

A Pakistani guy had even goaded them on the radio! Vikram had elaborated – “He said ‘Shershaah, you have come? Don’t try to come up otherwise you will have a tough time. And that was a time they gave us a challenge, and my guys, they went wild that how dare a Pakistani troop challenge us?‘”

It is said that the fierce soldier Batra died while saving his fellow soldier who was grievously injured! He was awarded posthumously for his valour with Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest gallantry award!

Shershaah will offer a glimpse not only into his daring missions during the war but also his beautiful romance with Dimple Cheema. Dimple never married after Vikram’s death, choosing to live as his widow instead. (Also read: Vikram Batra-Dimple Cheema’s ICONIC Love Story!)

Directed by Vishnu Vardhan and produced by Dharma Productions and Kaash Entertainment, Shershaah will arrive on Amazon Prime Video tomorrow (August 12).
