Earlier, the 74-year-old Babuji Rawji Shah– who claims to be the adopted son of the late Gangubai- had filed a defamation suit against Alia, SLB, and author Hussain in Mumbai sessions court.

He had alleged that the chapter on Gangubai Kathiawadi in ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’ was defamatory, tarnished her reputation, and infringed upon his deceased mother’s right to privacy and self-respect.

However, the court had rejected his suit and Shah had moved to Bombay High Court to seek a permanent order restraining the printing and circulation of the book, deleting specific chapters, and halting production of the film.

Meanwhile, the movie was scheduled to hit the theatres on July 30 but got delayed due to the pandemic.
