The duo won over the audiences’ hearts in their recently released movie Shershaah – based on the life of the Kargil War Hero Vikram Batra.
Shershaah has even accomplished the feat of being the current top-rated Hindi movie on IMDb! Apart from the glorious sacrifice of Batra in the war, his evergreen romance with Dimple Cheema has left everyone teary-eyed.
The real Dimple Cheema never got married after Vikram’s death, and instead chose to live on with the late Captain’s memories. Did you know that the duo were in a long-distance relationship for quite some time but their moments together were numbered?
Shershaah writer Sandeep Shrivastava revealed to the media– “When I was doing my research, and I interacted with Dimple, she said that Captain Batra and she knew each other for four years but the time they spent together was just about 40 days. I think that we have captured the essence of those 40 days, which means a lot to the wonderful lady whom I have a lot of respect for. It is the essence of her feelings that is coming through the way Kiara has played the character, and that’s what’s really sticking to people. So I do not think there was a need to add anything. It’s just the right amount.”
He further added that he had balanced both; Vikram’s personal life as well his soldier avatar in the movie – “She is a very integral part of Captain Vikram Batra’s life, you cannot tell his story without his relationship with Dimple, and without what he did in the war.”
