The Khiladi of Bollywood- Akshay Kumar– has turned 54 years old today and we wish him- a very happy birthday!

In his over 3-decade-long career, Akshay has delivered a lot of top-grossing Bollywood movies, some of them are remakes.

Today, let’s have a look at 7 Akshay Kumar movies that are Hindi remakes of South-Indian films. Check them out:

1. Cinderella – Ratsasan

Akshay Kumar’s upcoming movie ‘Cinderella’, which recently went on floors in UK, is the Hindi remake of the Tamil psychological crime thriller titled ‘Ratsasan’. Reportedly, Rakul Preet Singh essays the female lead in the remake.

2. Laxmii – Kanchana

While the Hindi remake ‘Laxmii’ failed to impress the audience, the Tamil original ‘Kanchana’ was a blockbuster. Starring Akshay Kumar & Kiara Advani in the lead, the Bollywood version is directed by Raghav Lawrence, who not only directed the original but also acted in it.

3. Bhool Bhulaiyaa – Manichitrathazhu

Directed by Priyadarshan, Akshay Kumar’s movie ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ is based on the Malayalam movie ‘Manichitrathazhu’. The Hindi remake of the horror-comedy was released in 2007 and it also featured Vidya Balan, Shiney Ahuja, Paresh Rawal in pivotal roles.

4. Gabbar Is Back – Ramanaa

Released in 2015, Akshay Kumar & Shruti Haasan starrer ‘Gabbar Is Back’ is the Bollywood remake of A. R. Murugadoss’s Tamil movie ‘Ramanaa’. Kareena Kapoor Khan made a cameo in the Hindi version.

5. Holiday – Thuppakki

Starring Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead, ‘Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty’ is the Hindi version of Vijay & Kajal Aggarwal’s Tamil blockbuster movie ‘Thuppakki’. Both the films have been directed by A. R. Murugadoss.

6. Rowdy Rathore- Vikramarkudu

Prabhu Deva directorial- ‘Rowdy Rathore’– starred Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles. The movie is the Hindi remake of the 2006 Telugu blockbuster ‘Vikramarkudu’, directed by S. S. Rajamouli.

7. Hera Pheri- Ramji Rao Speaking

Yes, another Akshay Kumar- Priyadarshan movie ‘Hera Pheri’ has been copied from a Malayalam movie titled ‘Ramji Rao Speaking’. The cult classic comedy also featured Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, and Tabu in titular roles.
