Check out 7 foreign web series that are now getting their own Indian adaptations:
1. Luther – Rudra
Director: Rajesh Mapuskar
Cast: Ajay Devgn, Raashi Khanna, Hemant Kher, Ashwini Kalsekar, Ashish Vidyarthi, and Atul Kulkarni
Plot: Ajay Devgn plays a cop in this series and as per the original version, Idris Alba (John Luther) is a detective who befriends a psychopath and murderer, whom he could not arrest due to lack of evidence. They solve various cases together.
2. The Night Manager
Director: Sandeep Modi
Cast: Aditya Roy Kapur, Anil Kapoor (rest not confirmed)
Plot: (Original Series) Pine, an ex-British soldier, is hired by an intelligence officer as a covert operative. He is tasked with infiltrating the inner circle of Roper, a secret arms dealer and also his lover’s killer.
3. Call My Agent – The Top Agents
Director: Shaad Ali
Cast: Aahana Kumra, Ayush Mehra, Rajat Kapoor, and Soni Razdan
Plot: (Original Series) At Paris talent firm, A.S.K, agents scramble to keep their star clients happy and their business afloat. Three agents, Mathias, Gabriel and Andréa, juggle one situation to another in circumstances that blend their personal and professional lives.
4. Ray Donovan – Rana Naidu
Director: Karan Anshuman and Suparn Verma
Cast: Venkatesh Daggubati and Rana Daggubati
Plot: The series showcases the lives of a Mumbai fixer for Bollywood and the elite along with his ex-con father, both who end up working together. Real life uncle and nephew, Venkatesh and Rana Daggubati, lead the series.
5. Fauda
Director: Sudhir Mishra and Sachin Krishnan
Cast: Manav Vij, Sumit Kaul, Shashank Arora, Sahiba Bali, Arslan Goni, Waluscha De Sousa, and Rocky Raina
Plot: (Original Series) After retiring from the Israel Defense Force, Doron is working on a vineyard. He gets roped back into active duty, though, upon learning that an enemy who Doron thought his unit had killed is still alive and plans on attending his brother’s wedding.
The Indian adaptation will highlight the issue of Indo-Pak relationships and deconstructs historical conflicts to offer a new perspective.
6. Guilt
Director: Shaad Ali
Cast: Jaideep Ahlawat, Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, Tina Desai, Shruti Seth, Maya Alagh, Mugdha Godse, and Satish Kaushik
Plot: (Original Series) In Edinburgh, two brothers accidentally kill a man while driving home from a wedding. After deciding to cover it up, they must dodge encroaching suspicions from the man’s family and friends who suspect that his death was not a mistake.
7. Casual
Director: Kunal Kohli
Cast: Prateik Babbar and Lara Dutta
Plot: (Original Series) Bachelor Alex Cole finds himself living with his newly divorced sister in this Hulu original series. This time around, though, he and his sister are adults and they find themselves navigating the waters of the dating pool again — all the while trying to raise Valerie’s teenage daughter.
