Storyline

DCP Veer Sooryavanshi, the chief of the Anti-Terrorism Squad in India, lost his parents young owing to the 1993 serial terrorism bombings that had taken place in Mumbai. Now, a very grown-up Sooryavanshi is on the case and is hunting down the members of the terrorist squad who haven’t yet been captured. He meets his wife Dr Riya (Katrina Kaif) at a hospital that he stumbled upon to get treatment from while he was shot.

Their love story comes to a temporary halt when their son gets grazed by a bullet during an unexpected car chase. In between personal matters, Sooryavanshi also has to find 600 kilograms of RDX, a chemical element used in bomb explosives. Apart from this, he also has to stop members of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (a Militant Islamist Jihadist network & terrorist organisation operating against India in Pakistan) from planting bombs. To help him successfully carry out this mission at the last stage, Bajirao Singham (Ajay Devgn) and Sangram Bhalerao (Ranveer Singh) join forces with Sooryavanshi.

What do we think?

This is a classic Rohit Shetty Cop VS Bad Guy film and that’s highly why we love it so much. Shetty knows his audience and clearly knows what fits their taste. From action-packed car chases to blowing up things every five seconds, the film had a surprise element at every turn.

Akshay Kumar, Bollywood’s action hero, has given his all to make his a blockbuster and he’s done more than just an excellent job. If you’re a fan, be assured that you’re going to fall in love with his heroics with just his grand entry. Katrina looks amazing as always and her playing the role of a mom is a new look. However, she’s done superbly and her acting is much appreciated. The cherry on the top is when Ranveer Singh and Ajay Devgn jump in for their cameos. With no attention stolen from the crux of the film, the three superheroes share screen space and they make it look effortlessly powerful.

Hit or Miss?

Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi is a HIT and for all the right reasons. They’ve got the style, the power-packed punches and all the right dialogues to make you feel a roller coaster of emotions.
