83 And Sooryavanshi Release Dates Postponed To 2021!

The release dates of Bollywood’s two most anticipated movies have been postponed again.

Ranveer Singh starrer sports drama ‘83’ and Akshay Kumar-Katrina Kaif starrer cop drama ‘Sooryavanshi’ will be releasing in 2021.

As per The Indian Express, Reliance Entertainment, the producer of both the big budget films earlier had announced that Rohit Shetty’s ‘Sooryavanshi’ will hit the theatres on Diwali, while the other film ’83’, will arrive on Christmas.

Although in October, Rohit Shetty’s directorial movie got postponed again.

In a recent interview with Bangalore Mirror, Reliance Entertainment Group CEO Shibashish Sarkar shared it is not possible to release Kabir Khan’s ’83’ on Christmas. Also, he confirmed a 2021 release for ‘Sooryavanshi’.

He further added, Christmas is no longer a possibility as we won’t be able to set up a marketing campaign within a month. Also, the overseas markets are important for both films and some of them have shut again due to a second wave of Covid. We’re looking at the January and March windows for ’83’ and ‘Sooryavanshi’.”

Based on India’s 1983 World Cup Victory, ’83’ was scheduled for a theatrical release on 10th April, 2020 but got delayed because of lockdown.

Kabir Khan is the director-producer of this multi-starrer movie. Deepika Padukone, alongside co-producing it, has also done a cameo as Romi Bhatia, Kapil Dev’s wife.

Meanwhile, ‘Sooryavanshi’, the third film in Rohit Shetty’s cop universe after Ajay Devgan’s ‘Singham’ and Ranveer-starrer ‘Simmba’, was originally scheduled to release on March 24, 2020.

Akshay will play the character of an ATS officer Veer Sooryavanshi who is on a lookout for terrorists planning a deadly strike on Mumbai. Katrina Kaif has been paired opposite Akshay as Aditi Sooryavanshi.

Ajay Devgan and Ranveer Singh will also reprise their roles of ‘Singham’ and ‘Simmba’ in cameos, to help Akshay bust the terror plot.

Both the movies got delayed due to Coronavirus pandemic.
