Finally, it’s a relief for the actress Rakul Preet Singh.

News Broadcasting Standards Authority (NBSA) has directed 9 news channels to air an apology to Rakul Preet Singh.

NBSA directs 9 news channels to air an apology for linking Rakul Preet to drugs case

According to Live Law reports, on 10th December, NBSA has found the news channels Aaj Tak, India TV, Times Now, Zee News, Zee 24 Taas, Zee Hindustani, News Nation, India Today, and ABP News at fault for putting out slanderous reports against Bollywood actress Rakul Preet Singh and linking her to drugs.

The broadcasting authority has directed the channels to remove the videos in question if they are still on their websites or YouTube or social media pages and report back within seven days.

The NBSA also slammed Zee and told the Zee group channels to air an apology before 9 pm on December 17 for running hashtags and taglines that the NBSA found to be “offensive, derogatory and violative of the code of ethics”.

“NBSA observed that these Hashtags/Taglines were very offensive and derogatory and gave an impression that the complainant was definitely a part of the ‘drug circle gang and was pedaling and consuming drugs,” the order reads.

It further stated, “NBSA observed that the broadcaster while telecasting such Hashtags, Taglines, and Images must understand the impression that these create on the viewers and the fact that these Taglines and Images, which have no connection with the news programs being telecast, cannot be broadcast randomly.”

Earlier, in September this year, Rakul had moved the Delhi High Court seeking action against these TV channels for wrongfully linking her to drugs and the Sushant Singh Rajput case.

The court, in turn, had directed the NBSA to look into the actor’s complaints against the channels.
