WHOA! Netflix Announces Exciting, New Line-Up Of 13 Indian Movies For 2021! Check The List –

Whoa! Grab your popcorn and get ready to binge!

Today, Netflix announced its exciting new line-up of 13 Indian Movies! Check out the full details of the films –

1) Dhamaka

Cast: Kartik Aaryan, Mrunal Thakur, Amruta Subhash, Vikas Kumar, Vishwajeet Pradhan

Directed by Ram Madhvani, Dhamaka is a remake of the Korean thrillerThe Terror Live’. Kartik will be featuring as news anchor Arjun Pathak.

The movie description reads – “A frustrated ex-news anchor is given another chance to go live on prime time television when a terrorist calls him with a bomb threat. Little does he know that this call will change his life and throw him into a fast-paced game of betrayal.”

2) Pagglait

Cast: Sanya Malhotra, Sayani Gupta, Ashutosh Rana, Raghubir Yadav, Shrutii Sharma, Sheeba Chaddha, Sharib Hashmi, Aasif Khan, Rajesh Tailang, Meghna Malik

Pagglait starring Sanya Malhotra in the role of the recently widowed Sandhya, explores how she is unable to feel sadness or mourn her husband’s death. Directed by Umesh Bist, the quirky comedy-drama revolves around the journey of a young widow as she learns how to free her crazy, face the family and find herself.

Pagglait will be releasing on 26th March on Netflix.

3) Haseen Dillruba

Cast: Taapsee Pannu, Vikrant Massey, Harshvardhan Rane

Haseen Dillruba is a mystery thriller directed by Vinil Mathew.

A woman whose heart longs to live like words captured in a novel, finds herself entangled in the murder of her own husband. Will she get lost in the chaos of her real-life novel or find her innocence? – reads the synopsis.

4) Ajeeb Daastaans

Cast: Fatima Sana Shaikh, Jaideep Ahlawat, Armaan Ralhan, Nushrratt Bharuccha, Abhishek Banerjee, Inayat Verma, Konkona Sen Sharma, Aditi Rao Hydari, Shefali Shah, Manav Kaul, Tota Roy Chowdhury

Ajeeb Daastaans is a 4-part anthology by directors like Shashank Khaitan, Raj Mehta, Neeraj Ghaywan, Kayoze Irani.

An anthology of four strangely contrasting stories that delve into fractured relationships and unexplored spaces. The stories are set in varied milieus, explore jealousy, entitlement, prejudices, and toxicity that are often entangled within the heart of their relationships. Each story also takes you on a journey where one would struggle with the moral dilemma of what’s right and what’s wrong, as the lines between them get blurred.” – reads the synopsis.

5) Meenakshi Sundareshwar

Cast: Abhimanyu Dassani, Sanya Malhotra

Directed by Vivek Soni, this romantic comedy revolves a young couple who have an arranged marriage because their first names together make Madurai’s famous temple ‘Meenakshi – Sundareshwar’. 

The movie description further reads – “However, when a job opportunity exclusively for single men pops up in Bengaluru, Sundareshwar has to leave his hometown and his wife Meenakshi, and pretend to be unmarried. The newlywed couple who barely know each other, struggle with the trials, tribulations, and insecurities of a long-distance relationship.”

The film will arrive soon on Netflix.

6) Sardar Ka Grandson

Cast: Neena Gupta, Arjun Kapoor, Rakul Preet Singh, John Abraham, Aditi Rao Hyadari, Soni Razdan, Kanwaljeet Singh, Kumud Mishra, Divya Seth

Directed by Kaashvie Nair, this family entertainer revolves around a US-return grandson (Arjun) who will go to any length to fulfil the last wish of his fun-loving grandmother (Neena Gupta), the matriarch of a large Punjabi family!

Sardar Ka Grandson will release this summer on Netflix. Exact date awaited.

7) Bulbul Tarang

Cast: Sonakshi Sinha, Tahir Raj Bhasin

Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, this social drama is set in Kannauj and revolves around a chirpy young girl called Bulbul who has one simple dream – she wants her groom, Rishi Kumar, to come in his baraat atop a horse. Soon enough Bulbul realizes that her innocent, harmless wish will meet resistance in their traditional village. But Bulbul is adamant to have her way and fight for what’s right.

8) Jaadugar

Cast: Jitendra Kumar, Arushi Sharma

Directed by Sameer Saxena, this sports comedy revolves around Magic Meenu, a small-time magician in Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh, who has to win a local football tournament to marry his lady love. Except she doesn’t return his love and his team hasn’t won a game in years!

9) Navrasa

Backed by Mani Ratnam and Jayendra Panchapakesan, Navrasa is a 9-part anthology based on the nine rasas (emotions): anger, compassion, courage, disgust, fear, laughter, love, peace, and wonder.

The nine directors are Arvind Swami, Bejoy Nambiar, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Karthik Subbaraj, Karthick Naren, KV Anand, Ponram, Rathindran Prasad, and Halitha Shameem.

10) Penthouse

Cast: Bobby Deol, Arjun Rampal, Sharman Joshi, Mouni Roy, Cyrus Broacha, Tisca Chopra, Abrar Zahoor

This thriller is directed by Abbas Mastan. The movie description reads – “When architect Vikram Saxena proposes sharing a Penthouse with his five married friends, it seems like the perfect solution for their indulgences, until one morning, a body of an unknown woman is found in the Penthouse. Friendships tested, loyalties questioned and marriages crumble as the shocking truth unravels in this relentless whodunit.”

11) Milestone

Cast: Suvinder Vicky, Lakshvir Saran

Directed by Ivan Ayr, this drama tells the story of a recently bereaved, middle-aged truck driver, Ghalib, who is coping with a personal tragedy and the consequences thereafter, while facing the existential threat of losing his job to a young recruit. The events in the story come together as Ghalib’s truck touches the 500,000 kilometers mark – a record at his company.

12) Jagame Thandhiram

Cast: : Dhanush, James Cosmo, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Kalaiyarasan, Joju George

Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, this action thriller is about Suruli, a nomadic gangster who has to choose between good and evil in a war for what one can truly call home.

13) The Disciple

Cast: Aditya Modak, Dr. Arun Dravid

Directed by Chaitanya Tamhane, The Disciple is a drama film revolving around Sharad Nerulkar, an Indian classical music vocalist. Having devoted his life to the study of classical Indian music, over the years he begins to question whether he will ever achieve his aspirations of excellence.
