Dil Dosti Dance fame Shantanu Maheshwari made his Bollywood debut with Gangubai Kathiawadi.
He played Alia Bhatt’s love interest in the film – Afsaan. Alia-Shantanu’s playful chemistry has left viewers obsessed and hoping that the duo pair up again!
It was Shantanu’s mother who spotted and nurtured his dancing talent and made sure that he was being seen in all the important places. Despite his mother’s health issues and the financial struggles that the family was facing, Shantanu managed to overcome those circumstances….

Talking to Bollywood Bubble, the actor shared – “She was very passionate about dancing and singing. She did whatever she could do in Calcutta to make sure that I am participating in all the competitions, I am being visible in the shows where named artists are coming. It’s only because of her that I kept on dancing.”
“I knew the financial problems that were there, the things that she (his mother) used to do in spite of her health issues. She was very strong. Obviously, your parents will never want their kids to know about the financial issues, but you get to know. I come from a joint family, I knew what problems we were having, major financial issues. I started performing for money so that I could support,” he added.
Once Shantanu started getting successful, he managed to save money and buy his Mom a car. She cried tears of joy at his accomplishment!
