6 Aamir Khan Movies That Are Hollywood Remakes:
1. Laal Singh Chaddha
Aamir Khan & Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ is the official Hindi remake of the cult Hollywood classic- ‘Forrest Gump’ (1994), which starred Tom Hanks in the lead. ‘Laal Singh’ is scheduled to hit theatres August 11, 2022.
2. Dhoom 3
The third instalment of YRF’s highly-anticpated franchise, ‘Dhoom 3’, was reportedly inspired from Chistopher Nolan’s popular movie ‘The Prestige’ (2006). ‘Dhoom 3’, which received mixed reviews from critics and the audience, starred Aamir Khan in a double role.
3. Ghajini
Aamir Khan-Asin’s ‘Ghajini’ was the Hindi remake of a Tamil movie of the same name. Both the movies were directed by A.R. Murugadoss. The Tamil original was said to be highly inspired by another Christopher Nolan’s movie ‘Memento’ (2000).
4. Ghulam
Directed by Vikram Bhatt, the Aamir Khan-Rani Mukerji starrer was actually a remake of Mahesh Bhatt’s film titled ‘Kabzaa’ (1988), which was originally copied from Marlon Brando’s movie ‘On The Waterfront’ (1954).
5. Mann
This Indra Kumar directorial, starring Aamir Khan, Manisha Koirala and Anil Kapoor, was said said to be inspired by the 1957 Hollywood film – ‘An Affair To Remember’. Reportedly, the climax of ‘Mann’ was improvised and was apparently different from the Hollywood original.
6. Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke
Starring Aamir Khan-Juhi Chawla in the lead, ‘Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke’ was apparently the remake of the 1958 Hollywood movie – ‘Houseboat’. This Mahesh Bhatt directorial also starred Kunal Kemmu as a child actor.
