This Vivek Agnihotri directorial, based on the 1990 Kashmiri Hindus Exodus, has taken the theatres by storm!

The movie has been shattering box office records every passing day and even surpassed biggies like Sooryavanshi and 83. The box collection is steadily nearing 200 CRORES! The Kashmir Files has also been declared tax-free in states like Uttar Pradesh, Tripura, Goa, Haryana and Uttarakhand.

Let’s see how much the actors charged for this film, as per latest reports – 

1) Anupam Kher

Veteran actor Anupam Kher gave a haunting performance as the grandpa Pushkar Nath Pandit. You could feel his anguish at the tragedy that befell his family!

Kher reportedly was paid Rs 1 CRORE.

2) Mithun Chakraborty 

<em>Mithun Chakraborty </em>

Mithun gave a moving performance as IAS Brahma Dutt. One could see his helplessness, rage and regret shine onscreen.

Chakraborty’s fee was Rs 1.5 CRORE allegedly.

3) Darshan Kumar

Darshan Kumar essayed the role of Krishna Pandit. He pulled off the part remarkably, doing justice to his character’s vulnerability, confusion and determination.

Darshan charged Rs 45 LAKHS if the report is to be believed.

4) Pallavi Joshi

Pallavi was seen as the controversial JNU professor Radhika Menon. It is believed that her character was inspired by Arundhati Roy and Nivedita Menon.

Pallavi Joshi was paid to the tune of Rs. 50-70 LAKHS allegedly.

5) Vivek Agnihotri

Lastly, the director of the film himself took home a paycheque of 1 CRORE allegedly for The Kashmir Files.

Before the film’s release, he had created a controversy by accusing Kapil Sharma of not promoting the project since it lacked a big star.
