Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, the makers of Bhool Chuk Maaf, starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi, have decided to skip a theatrical release
They will launch the film directly on an OTT platform. Initially set to hit theatres on May 9, it will instead make its digital debut on Prime Video on May 16.
On Thursday, the makers of the film issued an official statement to share the update.
The statement read: “In view of recent developments and the intensified security protocols across the country, Maddock Films and Amazon MGM Studios have collectively decided to premiere our family entertainer Bhool Chuk Maaf directly in your homes on May 16—exclusively on Prime Video, worldwide.”
It further added, “Though we were excited to experience this film with you in cinemas, the sentiment of the nation takes precedence. JAI HIND.”
The press screenings that were slated to take place in Delhi and Mumbai today have also been called off.

Tensions between India and Pakistan have intensified in the wake of the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which tragically claimed 26 lives. The incident has triggered a serious diplomatic standoff. In response, the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor on Wednesday—a precision strike operation aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
