On Sunday, Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh dropped the trailer of his upcoming film Sardaarji 3 on Instagram. The trailer revealed that Pakistani actress Hania Aamir is part of the cast, sparking controversy given the ongoing India-Pakistan tensions. Diljit also mentioned that the film will be released exclusively overseas and not in India. Following the trailer’s release, netizens heavily criticised Diljit for collaborating with a Pakistani actor. Now, celebrities have also begun weighing in—Mika Singh openly slammed Diljit, calling him a “fake singer” and urging the entertainment industry to put the nation’s interests above personal benefit. He took to Instagram to say:

“Guys, as we all know, the relationship between India and Pakistan isn’t going well right now. Yet some people continue to act irresponsibly. Before releasing any content that involves artists from across the border, they should think twice — especially when our nation’s dignity is involved.”

“There was a film featuring Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor that many of us opposed, and yet, some still don’t seem to get the message. What’s more shocking is that a fake singer, after doing 10 shows in India with thousands of fans buying tickets, has now disappeared — leaving fans betrayed and helpless.”

Earlier, Mann Bharrya singer B Praak also appeared to take a subtle jab at the Ikk Kudi singer through a cryptic post. He wrote, “Kayin artist apna zameer he bech chuke ne, fiteh mooh tuhade,” which roughly translates to, “Some artists have sold their conscience. Shame on you.”

In Sardaar Ji 3, Hania Aamir joins Diljit Dosanjh’s character, who plays a ghost hunter assigned to exorcise a spirit from a mansion in the UK. BN Tiwari, President of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), also criticized Diljit for collaborating with Hania, calling for a complete ban on all his projects.

Directed by Amar Hundal, the film features an ensemble cast including Gulshan Grover, Manav Vij, Nasir Chinyoti, Monica Sharma, and Saleem Albela. Diljit and Neeru Bajwa have previously won hearts with their on-screen chemistry in hits like Jatt & Juliet, Jatt & Juliet 2, Shadaa, and the original Sardaar Ji.
