Storyline:
Theater artist Saba (Shanaya Kapoor) and visually impaired musician Jahaan (Vikrant Massey) cross paths during a train journey that changes everything.
As part of her acting prep, Saba blindfolds herself to better understand the world of someone who can’t see; however, she is unaware that the kind, witty stranger beside her is the one who is actually blind.
What begins as a chance encounter soon blossoms into something deeper, as the two connect in ways that transcend the physical. Through banter, music, and vulnerability, their bond grows, blurring the lines between performance and reality.
Sometimes, it’s not sight but insight that truly brings people closer, and that love often sees what the eyes cannot!

Romance is back this July, and how! If you’ve grown tired of the clutter of masala action flicks, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan is the breath of fresh air you didn’t know you needed. This emotional and soulful film brings back the musical romantic drama genre after a long time!
This musical love story arrives with a soothing soundtrack that hits all the right notes. Vishal Mishra’s music is absolutely delightful. The title track is a standout, and the aesthetically pleasing recurring theme ties the many moods of the film together beautifully.

Shanaya Kapoor makes a promising debut, bringing a natural charm and refreshing screen presence to her role. She slips into the character of Saba with ease, infusing her with a quiet warmth and vulnerability that feels both sincere and endearing. Her quirky, playful styling adds to the character’s appeal, but it’s Shanaya’s expressive eyes and smile that truly stand out. What’s particularly commendable is how effortlessly she matches Vikrant Massey’s seasoned performance, never once appearing out of depth. It’s a confident start, and she leaves you curious to see what she does next.
Vikrant Massey once again proves he’s one of the most dependable performers we have. He adds layers of vulnerability, strength, and quiet emotion to Jahaan’s character with such ease. Together, Vikrant and Shanaya have wonderful chemistry. Their banter is cute, light, funny, and feels organic.

The writing here is simple and pure. The film doesn’t try to be overly clever or melodramatic. Instead, it leans into emotions, tender moments, and heartfelt conversations. This storyline feels unique and refreshing, especially in a market crowded with action and formulaic plots.
It even touches on modern issues like ghosting, a theme that today’s generation will instantly connect to.
Visually, the film looks gorgeous. After a warm, grounded first half in India, the second half opens up to stunning international locations that add a rich, polished feel to the drama. The production value is top-notch without being flashy.
Some scenes in the middle could have used more space to breathe. But these are minor bumps in what is otherwise a very enjoyable ride.
Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan brings back the era of love stories, told with with today’s modern day language and sensibility. It’s a film that will strike a chord with both young viewers and the mature audience. With good chemistry between the lead pair, strong performances, an aesthetically-pleasing soundtrack, and a fresh storyline, this is one romantic drama that truly deserves a watch.
