A high-stakes legal battle has unfolded as Karisma Kapoor’s children, Samaira and Kiaan, have formally approached the Delhi High Court.

They challenged the will presented by their stepmother, Priya Kapur, in the wake of their father Sunjay Kapur’s sudden passing.

The contested estate, estimated at a staggering ₹30,000 crore, has ignited intense scrutiny over inheritance rights and the validity of the will presented in July.

The siblings, supported by their grandmother Rani Kapur, have alleged that Priya Kapur concealed the original will, later introduced only under suspicious circumstances, and that the document may have been forged to consolidate the estate exclusively under her control. Priya, on the other hand, insists the will—though unregistered—is legitimate and dismisses the children’s challenge as baseless.

In response, the court has directed Priya Kapur to disclose all movable and immovable assets of Sunjay Kapur as of June 12, 2025, the date of his passing. Her legal team further revealed that the children had already received assets worth ₹1,900 crore just days before filing their suit—an argument used to undermine the claim of complete exclusion.

With injunctions sought to freeze the assets and a demand for recognition as legal heirs, the Kapur family dispute underscores the complexity and emotional intensity of inheritance disputes in high-stakes, high-profile families. The next court hearing is scheduled for October.
