After stepping away from the sequel of Kalki 2898 AD, Deepika Padukone has quickly moved on to a new project — King, her sixth collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan.

The actress marked the beginning of the shoot with a heartfelt Instagram post, sharing a candid picture of her holding SRK’s hand on set.

She recalled the most important lesson he taught her during their first film together, Om Shanti Om (2007) — that the joy of making a movie and the people you work with matter more than box-office success. “I’ve carried that lesson with me ever since,” she wrote, adding that this belief is what brings them together again for their sixth outing.

Over the years, Deepika and Shah Rukh have shared screen space in several blockbusters. Following Om Shanti Om, they reunited in Chennai Express (2013), the heist entertainer Happy New Year (2014), the spy thriller Pathaan (2023), and a special appearance in Jawan (2023). Their easy chemistry and strong box-office record have made them one of Bollywood’s most loved on-screen pairs.

The announcement of King comes soon after Vyjayanthi Movies confirmed Deepika’s exit from the much-anticipated sequel to Kalki 2898 AD, citing that the collaboration did not align with the project’s vision. Earlier this year, she was also replaced in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit, opposite Prabhas, with Triptii Dimri stepping into the role.

For fans, however, the news of Deepika teaming up with Shah Rukh once again has sparked excitement. With their history of delivering memorable hits, expectations are high for King, which promises to be another grand cinematic outing for the duo.
