Deepika Padukone Upcoming Movies Amid Kalki 2, Spirit, 8-Hour Work Shift Row!
Deepika Padukone has always known how to make headlines, whether it’s with her performances, her candor, or her choices. And lately, the actor has found herself right in the middle of a heated conversation about work culture in the film industry.
Deepika Padukone On 8-Hour Shift Row: “Many Male Superstars Work For 8 Hours, It’s Never Made Headlines”
After news broke that she wanted to limit her working hours to eight hours a day, it somehow snowballed into a controversy. Deepika had even been dropped from some big-ticket films like Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit and the highly anticipated Kalki 2 with Prabhas.
But Deepika, being Deepika, wasn’t going to take the chatter lying down. She came forward and set the record straight, pointing out that many male superstars also work only eight hours a day, some don’t even work weekends, and nobody bats an eyelid.
“By virtue of being a woman, if that’s coming across as pushy or whatever, then so be it,” she said, pointing out the glaring double standards.
And honestly, she has a point. If an actor at her level chooses to balance her personal and professional life, why should it be treated as scandalous? Especially when she’s also juggling new motherhood with baby Dua Padukone at home.

And here’s the best part – while the gossip mills thought her career might hit pause, Deepika flipped the script. She confirmed her role in King opposite Shah Rukh Khan, directed by Siddharth Anand. The film boasts an ensemble cast that’s as starry as it gets – Suhana Khan, Jackie Shroff, Rani Mukerji, Anil Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, Arshad Warsi, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Abhay Verma. That’s pretty much a dream line-up of Bollywood across generations.
Plus, she’s gearing up for an all-out action ride with Allu Arjun in Atlee’s much-hyped AA22xA6, where she has a fierce and pivotal role. She’s even blocked her calendar from late October to December-end for it.
So, while the industry debates work hours, Deepika is quietly moving ahead, doing what she does best… owning her choices and her films. And honestly, isn’t that the real power move?
