While the makers have not officially confirmed the casting yet, industry chatter suggests the duo is very much under serious consideration. If it clicks, this pairing could bring a refreshingly young, chaotic and super fun energy to Maddock’s much-loved supernatural universe.

Aneet Padda is currently riding high on her Saiyaara wave. With her natural screen presence, effortless charm and crackling chemistry with Ahaan, she has quickly become the internet’s newest sweetheart. Audiences love how real she feels on screen, and that relatability is a perfect fit for a horror-comedy that thrives on humour mixed with heart.

Lakshya, meanwhile, made a strong impression earlier this year with The Bads of Bollywood, Aryan Khan’s directorial debut. The show was bold, audacious and wildly entertaining, and Lakshya’s performance stood out for its confidence and comic timing. His pairing with Aneet could be quite interesting if it materializes.
Interestingly, Kiara Advani was originally set to headline Shakti Shalini, but plans changed after her exit due to pregnancy. The shift has opened doors for a newer, younger casting direction, which fits perfectly with Maddock’s evolving storytelling style.
Shakti Shalini Release Date:
Directed by Ajitpal Singh, the film is part of Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, which already boasts hits like Stree and Bhediya. The universe recently expanded with Thamma, starring Rashmika Mandanna, Ayushmann Khurran, and has an ambitious slate ahead including Chamunda, Bhediya 2, Stree 3, Maha Munjya, Pehla Mahayudh and Doosara Mahayudh.
Shakti Shalini is currently slated for a 24 December 2026 theatrical release, making it a perfect Christmas treat. If the rumours turn out to be true, this spooky-comedy could be one of the most exciting festive releases to look forward to.
