Aishwarya Rai-Salman Khan
Aishwarya Rai and Salman Khan hit it off while filming Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), and that crackling on-screen chemistry quickly turned into a real-life romance.
Unfortunately, the fairy tale did not last. Things reportedly grew messy, with allegations of Salman’s possessiveness, jealousy, and emotional turmoil for Aishwarya. The two called it quits in 2002, with Aishwarya later speaking openly about his verbal, emotional, and physical abuse, along with alcoholism and infidelity, as the reasons behind the breakup.
Hrithik Roshan-Kangana Ranaut
What started as whispers of a romance between Hrithik Roshan and Kangana Ranaut blew up into one of Bollywood’s messiest feuds around 2016.
Things really spiralled when Kangana casually called Hrithik her ‘silly ex’ triggering a very public legal war. Hrithik flatly denied ever dating her, while Kangana insisted they had a secret affair during Krrish 3 in 2013.
Akshay Kumar-Raveena Tandon
Back in 1994, Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon were the it couple, riding high after the blockbuster Mohra and they even secretly got engaged. But the fairy tale crashed fast. Allegations of Akshay’s infidelity, unkept promises, and his pressure on Raveena to quit acting led to a dramatic breakup.

Mahesh Bhatt-Parveen Babi

Dilip Kumar-Madhubala
Dilip Kumar and Madhubala fell deeply in love during Tarana (1951). They were engaged and ready to marry, but fate had other plans.
Madhubala’s father, Ataullah Khan, exerted tight control over her life and career and tried to turn their marriage into a business deal. The final split came during the Naya Daur court case when Dilip Kumar testified against her father. Their love ended, but the pain lived on, especially in Mughal-e-Azam, where their on-screen tragedy felt heartbreakingly real.
Raj Kapoor-Nargis
Raj Kapoor and Nargis weren’t just co-stars, they were soul-mates who created magic in films like Awara and Shree 420.
Their off-screen love, however, was complicated and painful. Kapoor was already married and unwilling to leave his wife Krishna, despite his feelings for Nargis. After nearly a decade of emotional turmoil, Nargis walked away and married Sunil Dutt in 1958. Kapoor was left heartbroken, proving that sometimes love isn’t enough to change reality.
