Uorfi Javed is once again breaking the internet, but this time it’s not because of her quirky outfits. The actress has firmly shut down viral claims suggesting she was expelled from Islam. She argued that one cannot be removed from a faith they do not even follow!

For the unversed, social media has been buzzing with videos and posts claiming that Uorfi was removed from Islam and that her name was allegedly changed to Geeta Bhardwaj. Sounds dramatic, right? Uorfi thought so too.

Reacting to the rumours, Uorfi made it crystal clear that there is no such thing as being thrown out of a religion that she already left years ago.
Addressing the claims directly, she said, “I myself left the religion long ago. Who is making these things up now?”

The actress also dismissed reports about her name being changed, calling them completely made-up.
Speaking to IANS, she said, “Who said this? There is no such report. They are making it up on their own. I don’t follow any religion. I am an atheist. So, where will you get me out of? How would you get somebody out of a place they don’t exist in the first place!”
Damn, that last line deserves a slow clap.
How Did The Controversy Start?
So where did all this chaos start? Social media influencer Faizan Ansari shared a video claiming that Muslims had collectively decided to disassociate Uorfi from the community due to her alleged insults toward it. He even went as far as renaming her to Geeta Bhardwaj.
In true Uorfi style, she cleared the air without holding back. Slamming Faizan Ansari’s claims that she was removed from the faith or renamed, Uorfi Javed called the reports completely baseless and firmly stood by her right to choose her own beliefs!
