The controversy began when eagle-eyed netizens noticed that Yami had liked a viral Instagram reel. The video stitched together a clip of Kriti celebrating her Best Actress award with an older interview of Yami.

In that interview with THR India, Yami had spoken candidly about validation in the industry, saying, “You try everything, and it still doesn’t work. So, I’ve stopped seeking any kind of validation. If I get that award, then I am a good actress, and otherwise, I’m not. Nothing like that.”

May Have Been Clicked Accidentally – Clarifies Yami Gautam

Because the reel juxtaposed the two clips, some viewers assumed it was mocking Kriti’s win, and Yami’s like quickly turned into online gossip.

However, Yami has now set the record straight and clarified that the engagement was completely accidental.

She explained how the situation likely happened, writing, “It has come to my notice that I apparently ‘liked’ a reel that is condescending toward another actor. We get tagged in multiple things every day, and this appeared during an award-function reference like any other tag. It isn’t true and was definitely not done consciously; if anything, it may have been clicked accidentally.”

The actor also firmly shut down any suggestion that she would participate in shady publicity tactics.

She continued, “Never in my life have I resorted to cheap PR tactics. I have always focused on my work and moved on.”

Yami further added that in today’s clickbait world, it’s easy for such small incidents to turn into gossip, but she hopes people remember the reputation she has built over the years. She also clarified that she doesn’t even have a PR team and prefers to stay focused on her craft.

So, for anyone wondering if there was real shade involved. According to Yami, it was just an accidental tap!

Meanwhile, on the work front, Yami has been receiving strong praise for her performance in Haq, where she stars alongside Emraan Hashmi. Her husband Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar 2 is also set to release in cinemas this 19th March.
