The Greek God of Bollywood has impressed one and all with his acting skills and never fails to give an full-pack entertainer to his audience.
However, there are a few films that Hrithik Roshan turned down and these films later emerged as Blockbusters. Let’s have a look at them below.
1- Baahubali
Hrithik Roshan was offered the lead role in Baahubali by Rajamouli. However, Rajamouli does not reveal the full story to the actors unless they commit full-time to the movie and have no other projects going on. Hrithik Roshan therefore rejected the movie as he was not completely told about the role and script.
2- Dil Chahta Hai
Dil Chahta Hai created a major buzz amongst the youth in 2001. The film was written and directed by Farhan Akhtar. The role of Siddharth, which was played by Akshay Khanna in the movie was originally written keeping Hrithik Roshan in mind. However, Hrithik rejected the movie but it turned out to be a massive hit after the release.
3- Bunty Aur Babli
Hrithik Roshan had turned down Yash Raj‘s ‘Bunty Aur Babli‘ as he was too busy shooting for Krrish. Bunty Aur Babli was a huge success at the box office with Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukherjee playing lead roles. Abhishek was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Actor for this movie.
4- Rang De Basanti
Hrithik Roshan was offered the role of Karan/Bhagat Singh in the blockbuster movie ‘Rang De Basanti‘. However, Hrithik is very picky about his roles and the role offered to him, did not suit him. He was keen on playing the lead role of ‘DJ’ which was already signed by Aamir Khan.
5- Main Hoon Na
Hrithik was offered the role of Lucky by Farah Khan in ‘Main Hoon Na‘ but Hrithik rejected the offer. Had he accepted the role, we would have witnessed another brotherly bond between Shahrukh and Hrithik after Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001). Hrithik’s brother-in-law Zayed Khan played the role of Lucky and the movie was a huge success at the box office.
6- Swades
After Lagaan turning out to be a huge success in 2001, Ashutosh Gowariker offered Aamir Khan the lead role of his Swades but he rejected the offer. The same offer was later made to Hrithik Roshan but he declined it as well. However, both the actors rejected the offer. Later, Shahrukh Khan gave life to Mohan Bhargava’s role. Though the film wasn’t a big hit, it has gained a cult status over the years
7- Pink Panther 2
Hrithik did not only restrict to rejecting Bollywood movies but has also rejected huge Hollywood movies too. Bollywood’s superstar had said a no to the makers of Pink Panther 2 who wanted to cast him in an important role. The same film also had Aishwarya Rai as the female lead.
