6 Legendary Bollywood Scenes That Were Totally Improvised!

Yes, every movie has a script, a direction, a storyline. But did you know some of these iconic scenes were improvised by the actors?

Check out 6 such improvised scenes that’ll surprise you.

1. Tamasha – The break up

Tamasha’s break up scene is a fan favourite and has left us feeling different in so many ways. From the heartbreak to the sorrow. As per the director Imtiaz himself, Ranbir and Deepika shed very real tears while shooting this and yes, it was all improvised. Neither were they given a brief about the scene nor did they know how to enact it beforehand.

2. DDLJ – Aao… aao… aao…

Bollywood’s most ICONIC film ever – Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, also has the most iconic improvised scene! Apparently, Shah Rukh Khan and the late Amrish Puri had come early to set and fed pigeons around them. Directors thought of it as a good idea to include and hence the ‘Aao… Aao… Aao…’ scene was born. Puri had randomly begun the scene and SRK followed.

3. Piku – Knife throwing

In this scene, Amitabh Bachchan, the late Irfan Khan and Deepika Padukone had improvised completely. While Big B and Irfan’s banter was all off script, DP’s knife throwing took them by surprise. The trio still continued their shot and of course, the scene turned out to be great.

4. Gangs of Wasseypur – Permission

Huma Qureshi and Nawazuddin Siddiqui were sitting by the water when Nawaz puts his hand on her, offending Huma. She then asks him to take permission before doing something like that. The scene is also followed by hilarious discussions on various situations we take permission for. The scene was improvised by Nawaz and is apparently inspired by a real-life incident.

5. Ugly – Police station

The Anurag Kashyap directorial ‘Ugly’ also sports an impeccable improvised scene. Rahul Bhat rushes to the police station to report to the inspector about his daughter’s kidnapping. This was initially not a 14-minute scene as per the script. The actors were so into the shot that the elongated the scene.

6. Masan – Bridge

Vicky Kaushal’s acting in Masan won hearts. However, a not so well known fact is that he also improvised the climax of the film. Vicky apparently was so involved in the scene that he suggested the shoot to take place under a bridge. It started off with crying but the actor smartly used the dialogue ‘Tu Kisi Rail Si Guzarti hai Main Kisi Pull Si Ther ta Hoon’ from the song.
