Sad news today… Bollywood has lost another cinematic legend this year.
Veteran actor Dilip Kumar passed away at 7:30 am on Wednesday, 7 July 2021, at the age of 98.
Dilip ji had recently been hospitalized the 2nd time in Hinduja Hospital even after undergoing a successful pleural aspiration procedure, as he had been feeling breathless.
As per Indian Express report, doctors informed that the actor had advanced prostate cancer which had spread to other organs.
“He passed away due to prolonged illness. He had water in pleural cavity, and he suffered a kidney failure. He required blood transfusion multiple times. We carried the last transfusion but it did not help.”
The late Dilip Kumar is survived by his wife, veteran actress Saira Banu. He does not have any children. His burial will be held at 5:00 PM today at Juhu Qabrastan in Santacruz Mumbai.
Born as Mohammed Yusuf Khan and professionally known as Dilip Kumar, he had debuted with ‘Jwar Bhata’ in 1944 and had acted in more than 65 films. He was widely known as the ‘Tragedy King’ of Bollywood. His body of work includes iconic films like ‘Devdas’, ‘Mughal-e-Azam’, ‘Daag’, ‘Ram Aur Shyam’. Dilip Sahab had last been seen in the 1998 movie ‘Qila’.
