Talking about masculinity, Rajkummar shared his clear stance. “I feel there’s nothing wrong with being manly, but when you start using it for the wrong reasons, that’s where I have a problem. I have a problem with male chauvinism. I feel like there’s no superior gender; we’re all equals, you know?”
His words strike a chord in a time when conversations around gender roles are more important than ever.
Rajkummar went on to explain how his childhood shaped his thinking. “Growing up in the North, I’ve seen a lot of how women are treated. Some guys think they’re better and want to confine women to staying home. I’ve always been really bothered by that. And I’ve thought to myself, whatever I become in life, I don’t want to be like that. I don’t want to do that, because I’ve seen my mother.”
He didn’t hold back while talking about the biggest influence in his life, his mother. “She was a fighter. She was a really strong lady. I got a lot of inspiration from her, and I’ve been inspired by women around me in my life, especially some of my teachers. I have a lot of respect in my heart for the opposite gender.”

This honesty and openness are rare to find, especially in an industry known for its polished image. Rajkummar admits that it makes him feel like he doesn’t always fit in.
“That’s why I think maybe I’m too real for this industry, I don’t know. I’m still figuring out what’s what, but I am who I am. If someday I have to show a different side of myself, I’ll do that. Sometimes, you just find yourself in a situation where you have to step up for someone or stand against something unfair. That’s how I feel about it.”
At a time when many are afraid to speak up, Rajkummar’s words feel refreshing. He’s not just acting on screen but also living his truth off it. His strong stance against male chauvinism, his deep respect for women, and his raw honesty remind us why he continues to be one of the most relatable stars in Bollywood today.
