And in an exclusive chat with Instant Bollywood, Sitaare Zameen Par actress Genelia opened up about the heart of their relationship. She spoke about what makes it work and how they support each other through life’s many roles, especially as parents.
When asked what the foundation of her marriage with Riteish is, Genelia didn’t miss a beat.
“Riteish is a very lovely person. He gives you wings to fly. As a person, I’m more the homemaker than Riteish, but it’s not something that’s taken for granted… it’s always appreciated.” she said with a smile that pretty much said it all.

“We’ve Been Trained As Mothers To Believe You Can’t Say You’re Tired” – Genelia
The actress-turned-supermom also got candid about the tougher days. The kind every parent knows too well. The days when you’re running on zero sleep, everything feels overwhelming, and you just need a break. For Genelia, those moments aren’t something she hides. She talks about them openly.
“There are times when I get tired and feel like it’s too much. Sometimes, I’m even scared to say it, because we’ve been trained as mothers to believe that you can’t say that. This is your job, and you have to do it,” she said honestly.
But that’s where Riteish comes through like a true partner.
“There are days when I tell him, ‘I’m just tired, can you take over today?’ and he’ll do it. He’ll just do it,” she shared.
It’s not just Riteish who understands her. Their sons, aged nine and ten, are already learning the value of empathy and care.
“My kids will understand that I had a long night, had a hectic shoot… they say, ‘When you’re ready for food, we’ll give you.’ They give me that space. I think that’s very important.”
These are the kinds of small, meaningful moments that show how beautifully this family works together. There’s no pressure. No guilt. Just love, respect and a lot of teamwork.
