All About SS Rajamouli Movie Varanasi – Starring Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra In A Globe Trotting Adventure!
The film stars Mahesh Babu as Rudhra, Priyanka Chopra Jonas as Mandakini, and Prithviraj Sukumaran as Kumbha. It is not just another action film. Rajamouli is building what looks like a massive mythology inspired universe that jumps between timelines. Think Varanasi in 512 CE one moment and then a leap to 7200 BC the next. The first visuals show Uggra Bhatti caves, ancient yagnas, intense battlefield sequences and a fiery shot of Lord Hanuman setting Lanka ablaze.
Mahesh Babu is almost unrecognisable as Rudhra, holding a trident and riding a bull like a total force of nature. Priyanka Chopra appears in a stunning yellow saree, armed with a gun and full femme fatale energy. Prithviraj, meanwhile, shows up in what appears to be a sci fi wheelchair and instantly adds a futuristic twist to the mix. It is all so unexpected and so exciting.
Rajamouli has described Varanasi as a globe trotting action adventure that carries the spirit of an Indiana Jones style thrill ride while staying deeply rooted in Indian culture and mythology. Basically, expect something fast, fun and packed with breathtaking visuals.
Varanasi Budget, Release Date?
Although the team has not officially confirmed it, the film is reportedly being made on a massive budget of about 1100 crore. It is also slated for a grand IMAX release in Summer 2027.
In short, Varanasi looks huge, fresh and completely Rajamouli style. If the early glimpses are anything to go by, this one is going to be a roller coaster.
