Ever wondered what it would be like to see a shape-shifting serpent take on a werewolf? Indian cinema is all set to bring this fantasy to life! Kartik Aaryan has officially announced his next film, Naagzilla, backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.
The film is slated for release on August 14, 2026 — the same day as Maddock Films’ Varun Dhawan starrer Bhediya 2.
Kartik Aaryan took to Instagram to unveil the motion poster of Naagzilla, writing, “We’ve seen plenty of films about humans, now get ready for one about serpents! #Naagzilla – the first chaotic chapter from Naag Lok… I’m coming to stir up some fun as Preyamvadeshwar Pyaare Chand this Naag Panchami 🐍 Catch me slithering into your nearest ssssinemas on 14th August 2026.”

Naagzilla introduces Kartik Aaryan in a never-before-seen avatar as Preyamvadeshwar Pyare Chand — an Ichchhadhari (shape-shifting) Naag on a thrilling, fantastical journey. This unique fantasy-comedy is directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba and penned by Gautam Mehra.
The film marks Kartik’s second outing with Dharma Productions after their upcoming Valentine’s Day release, Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri. Naagzilla also marks the beginning of a creative collaboration between Dharma Productions and Mahaveer Jain Films — two powerhouses joining forces to deliver original, genre-blending cinema.
Produced by Karan Johar, Mahaveer Jain, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, and Sujit Jain, Naagzilla promises to be an unmissable entertainer that weaves together elements of folklore, fantasy, and full-on fun.
Bhediya 2, starring Varun Dhawan, is also slated for release on August 14, 2026. As a part of the Maddock Supernatural Universe, the film is generating significant buzz. However, with another major release scheduled for the same date, it remains to be seen whether Bhediya 2 will stick to its original plan or opt for a different date to avoid a box office clash.
