Ram Gopal Varma releases Coronavirus Trailer; World’s first film set and shot entirely in Lockdown!

Capitalizing on the global pandemic, Ram Gopal Varma has released the trailer of the first film to be shot during Lockdown, which has aptly and ingeniously been titled *cough cough* ……… ‘Coronavirus’! Very smart SEO move, we say! Content, Controversy, Coronavirus…all Check!

Claiming to be the World’s first film on Coronavirus – Set in Lockdown and Shot Entirely during Lockdown, ‘Coronavirus’ is a Telugu film which takes a close, unnerving look at the pandemic and its tense effects on family members.

The trailer shows a family stuck in the lockdown, grappling nervously with the possibility that one of their family members may have tested positive for the Coronavirus. The scenes of the girl coughing pitifully will leave one instantly shuddering and crossing their fingers!

Elaborating on the concept of the film, the Director tweeted,“CORONAVIRUS is a film about the fears in all of us..it TESTS the POWER of LOVE against the FEAR of DISEASE and DEATH.”

While the terse, suspenseful scenes of the trailer emanate a horror vibe and may have the audience slightly confused, RGV clarifies on Twitter that,“CORONAVIRUS is not a HORROR film. It is about the HORRORS which are inside all of us including our great political leaders and bureaucrats who actually know only as much as us which is just nothing. THE ONLY THING I KNOW IS THAT I KNOW NOTHING”-Socrates.”

Though the Director wanted to prove that neither God nor Corona could stop his work, he was diligent in observing all the strict guidelines while filming and shared the same on Twitter.

Also, in a pointed jibe at celebrities who were engrossed in showing themselves doing household chores on social media during the lockdown, RGV declares he was busy getting down to business. “When the rest of film people were SWEEPING FLOORS, COOKING FOOD ,WASHING UTENSILS , DRYING CLOTHES etc etc I MADE A FILM,” he tweeted.

Ram Gopal Varma also got a special shout-out from Amitabh Bachchan on the trailer release, to which he replied, “THANKS SARKAAAAR! ..I couldn’t just let a chungoo mungoo VIRUS to LOCK me DOWN.”

Produced by CM Creations with direction of Agasthya Manju, and music composed by DSR, ‘Coronavirus’ features Srikanth Iyengar. While the trailer is out on the RGV Channel, the movie’s release date hasn’t been revealed yet.

You’re fighting the urge to cough right now, aren’t you?
