Yuvraj Singh calls Yuzvendra Chahal ‘Bhangi’ on Live Video Chat with Rohit Sharma; Twitter demands apology!

Yuvraj Singh maafi maango' trends on Twitter for making casteist ...

With great power comes great responsibility! Err…looks like someone should have used their words carefully while going live on Instagram. Since they have come to bite them back in the ass almost months later!

Former Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh is facing the full wrath of Twitter for casually using the casteist remark, ‘Bhangi’, while taking a jibe at famous bowler Yuzvendra Chahal in a live Instagram session with fellow cricketer Rohit Sharma in April.

Bhangi is a casteist slur which means a sweeper or scavenger of one of the lower untouchable castes.

Here’s the controversial video in question:-

Like everyone else, Indian bowler Yuzvendra Chahal, has resorted to making funny TikToks and hosting interactive sessions on his social media to battle the Corona Crazies in quarantine!

So in an Instagram live with Rohit Sharma when Yuvraj Singh tried trolling Yuzvendra Chahal’s infamous TikTok videos, by joking “ye bhangi logo ko koi kaam nahi hai”, it backfired spectacularly! Though the two had laughed off the matter at the time, the video resurfaced on Twitter recently causing outrage.

Of course, hurt and disappointed by his use of the casteist slur, the Twitterati went in guns blazing on the former cricketer. And started demanding that he apologize for saying the insensitive word.

Then again, some people were quick to jump to his defense and were of the opinion that it was not meant to hurt anyone’s sentiment. The word was uttered as just some light-hearted humour.

Earlier, Yuvraj Singh was also under fire for showing support and asking people to donate to Shahid Afridi Foundation. He claimed it was only because he would always stand for humanity.

Well, well, well. Words can sure hurt. #युवराज_सिंह_माफी_मांगो is now trending on Twitter with almost 27 k tweets! What do you think of the controversy? Is it too late now to say sorry?

What do you think?
