Karan Johar decides to quit MAMI board

Subsequent to the demise of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, many celebrities have been thrown under the nepotism bus for allegedly being supportive only of ‘star kids’. Director Karan Johar has taken a huge hit with these accusations by being subjected to major trolling all over social media. This has resulted in the filmmaker going atypically silent over all platforms.

According to a report by Mumbai Mirror, Karan Johar has decided to resign from the MAMI board. MAMI or The Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image is an association that organises the international annual Mumbai Film Festival whose chairperson is Deepika Padukone.

As per the report, the reason of resignation seems to be the lack of support in favour of Johar from his companions. He has apparently without a second thought, already given out via mail his resignation letter to Smriti Kiran, who is MAMI’s artistic director.

Deepika Padukone, also the chairperson of the festival, has supposedly tried to talk to Karan about rethinking the major decision.
