Karan Johar has been at the heart of the revived nepotism controversy, in the aftermath of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. And now, it looks like Karan Johar’s controversial chat show ‘Koffee with Karan’ might go off-air soon!
Reportedly, Star India is going to pull the plug on its English entertainment channel ‘Star World’ – where Karan’s talk show is broadcasted.
According to a report from Midday, this move is being prompted by the drop in the viewership after a boom in the OTT content recently.
A source informs, “With many of Star World’s international series available on Amazon Prime Video and Netflix, the viewership had dropped considerably. Now that Disney has entered a joint venture with Star, changes are being made to the content slate.”
Now, ‘Koffee with Karan’ still could’ve been shifted to another channel. But the recent controversy surrounding the show after Sushant’s demise has negatively affected the chances of this happening.
As revealed to Bollywood Hungama by a source close to the development – “Plans to shut down Star World were afoot for some time now. And Star had decided to move Karan Johar’s chat show to another channel owned by the group. But now with all the unsavory controversy surrounding the chat show after Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, Star has decided to close it down.”
