“Yes, it is about Sushant, but it is also about my life” – Kangana Ranaut

Kangana Ranaut has actively been at the forefront of the Justice For Sushant Movement, and has even slammed Bollywood Bigwigs for Movie Mafia and nepotism publicly.

In an interview with TOI, Kangana opened up about her crusade for Sushant Singh Rajput and her reasons behind it, and what should be done from an investigation point of view.

Admitting that she hadn’t been following Sushant’s career, Kangana expressed that her first reaction to his demise was shock and disbelief and she wasn’t thinking about all the layers.

“I thought maybe because everyone is locked down, and this is a very unusual situation, so maybe that got to him? I was not thinking about all the layers.”

Kangana stated that she didn’t want to stand on high ground and claim that she always knew Sushant. She talked about how her initial perception of Sushant which was developed after she read blind items, changed when she went deeper into the matter. And how she felt overcome with guilt and shame after looking at it from the Outsider perspective.

“The kind of trap that they laid for him and the prejudice of an outsider, I saw it from (the perspective of) an outsider, who has been called a witch, a whore, what not.” – says Kangana

“See, I don’t want to be standing on some high ground and be like, I always knew Sushant. No, I did not. And to be honest, when I would read these blinds after blinds, news after news that he is a rapist, he is a sex addict, he is doing drugs, he is beating up his directors, I remember thinking vaguely, ‘What is up with this boy? He needs to get control of his life.’

That was my perception of Sushant – but when I actually went deeper into the matter, I was taken over by an unbearable amount of guilt and shame. The kind of trap that they laid for him and the prejudice of an outsider, I saw it from (the perspective of) an outsider, who has been called a witch, a whore, what not.

Kangana Ranaut hits out at Mumbai Police, says no summons served ...
Said no to YRF, Khans and Bhansali; I could have done a lot for promotions. You don’t need somebody’s death to promote yourself

Addressing the allegations that she was using Sushant’s death to fight her personal battles, Kangana commented that she didn’t need someone’s death to promote herself.

“Someone like me, who has said no to Yash Raj Films, to Khan’s films, to Bhansali films, to big brands that have fairness attached to them – I could have done a lot for promotions. You don’t need somebody’s death to promote yourself. People can just do a TikTok video and have 10M followers. I can do Instagram or Twitter if I want to. I can do so much to promote myself.”

After public row, Kangana, Karan come together on same platform ...
“Yes, it is about Sushant, but it is also about my life, because these people are still ganging up on me. I will talk about my enemies.”

Kangana affirmed that she was taking revenge from her enemies because even though Sushant was lost, there was still hope for her life  – and she wanted to live, survive and make it big.

“About taking revenge from my enemies – I have always been vocal about that from Day One. I don’t need to ride on someone’s shoulders to take revenge. Nobody has the right to tell me that you stop talking about your enemies because we will only talk about Sushant. Yes, it is about Sushant, but it is also about my life, because these people are still ganging up on me. I will talk about my enemies because maybe, we have lost Sushant, but there is still hope for my life. I WILL talk about it! You can’t tell me that now you shut up because you are still alive.

So for people to say that I am taking revenge from my enemies, of course, I am! Is there any doubt about it? One does not have to be a genius to figure that out. I want to live, I want to survive, I want to make it big. I won’t let people trap me, ruin me. I will do everything to fight them.

I refuse to take advantage of someone's death for personal ...
These people are only turning outsider against outsider because they don’t want to dirty their own hands.– says Kangana

Kangana also pointed out how the people she is slamming are not addressing her statements but instead sending Outsiders, and turning Outsiders against each other. She also commented on the topic deviation – insisting that the focus should be on Sushant’s murder instead of her 10-year-old videos.

“They are not gonna dirty their hands. None of them are addressing what I spoke about. Right now, if they talk, they will be trolled. So who do they send? These outsiders. So they know which lives are valuable for them and which are not.

If I am talking about some points about how he was killed, you talk about those points na. Why are you talking about what I said ten years ago? Yaar, ten years ago my issues were different. Ten years ago, I did not know English, I was a skinny, frizzy-haired, scrawny-looking girl. People mocked me, made fun of me, but nobody was threatened by me. Forget my ten-year-old videos, yaar. Let’s talk about Sushant Singh’s murder!

These people are only turning outsider against outsider because they don’t want to dirty their own hands. I had put such big charges on them, why are they not coming out in public and talking?”

On the investigation and CBI Inquiry front, Kangana said that she’d been in touch with Subramanian Swamy for the legal help. She stated that there was a price to pay for being vengeful and targeting someone.

“Yeah, they are giving me legal help and I want to put my points forward and make sure that these people are investigated and some kind of awareness is brought about. There is a price to pay for vengeance and not only for the victim, even for the propagator. This needs to become clear. When you are being vengeful, when you are targeting someone, you know that there is a price for that, are you ready to pay that price? If you are not, then you don’t indulge in practices like that.”

Sushant Singh Rajput's Death: Aditya Chopra Or Sanjay Leela ...
Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Aditya Chopra’s statements are not matching. Now this is where the case from our side is getting strong.

Kangana pointed out how the Mumbai Police who were initially not questioning Aditya Chopra, interrogated him after her interview. She also highlighted the discrepancies in both Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Aditya Chopra’s Police statements

She went on to question Mahesh Bhatt’s involvement in Sushant’s love life and also asked why Karan Johar was not summoned yet.

“First Mumbai Police said they are not questioning Aditya Chopra or Karan Johar, but after the promos of my interview, Aditya Chopra was at a police station giving his statement. From what I have read in reports, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Aditya Chopra’s statements are not matching. Now this is where the case from our side is getting strong. From what I have gathered, Bhansali is saying that I offered him films after films, but he was not allowed to do my films, whereas Aditya Chopra is claiming that Bhansali never really offered him any films. Now, who is lying?

Mahesh Bhatt, who was very invested in his love life for some strange reason, needs to be questioned as well. I also do not know why they are not calling Karan Johar. Even the public attorney that we have, Ishkaran Bhandari, he said that he has enough evidence to know that any producer, even with newcomers, can release his films. When these articles were out that because of Sushant and his negative career graph he is not able to sell his film (‘Drive’), and if he (Karan) had no hand in it, why did he not give an official statement? No actor can be responsible for a dud. There are scriptwriters, directors, producers who choose the story, the actor doesn’t do any of this. It is at very later stages that the actor comes onboard.”
