Vidya Balan, Minisha Lamba, Swara Bhaskar and Hina Khan Against Rhea’s ‘Media Trial’

After Taapsee Pannu and Lakshmi Manchu, actresses Vidya Balan, Minisha Lamba, Swara Bhaskar and Hina Khan have stood up in support of Rhea Chakraborty.

Against the alleged media trial that Chakraborty is currently facing, these actresses have a lot to say.

1. Vidya Balan

Replying to Lakshmi Manchu’s earlier tweet about Rhea which she captioned ‘stop lynching’, Balan tweeted, “God bless you @LakshmiManchu for saying this out loud. It is so unfortunate that the tragic untimely death of a beloved young star Sushant Singh Rajput has become a media circus. In the same breath, as a woman, my heart breaks at the vilification of Rhea Chakraborty. Isn’t it supposed to be ‘Innocent Until Proven Guilty’, or is it now ‘Guilty Until Proven Innocent’!? Let’s show some respect for the constitutional rights of a citizen and let the law take its course.”

2. Minissha Lamba

Minissha supports Rhea by saying she is also going through a grievance period and has also suffered a loss. She tweets, “I do hope that after #RheaChakroborty speaking out, that we realise, in all the weeks of horrific vilification, reinforcing set stereotype wild conjecture.. That there is a human being out there dealing with a tragic loss, who is seeking the same answers that you.

3. Swara Bhaskar

Swara Bhaskar questions Rhea being framed. She tweets, “Hey Voyeurs & shameless conscience-less anchors! Chat Proves #RheaChakraborty had informed the family about the mental health of SSR way back in 2019. Why did all the high decibel, screaming shouting anchors conveniently ignore this story? Does it seem like Rhea is being framed?

4. Hina Khan

In an interview, Hina Khan also spoke out supporting Rhea saying, “I am not saying don’t talk about it but have a balanced view.”

The actress thinks the media needs to focus on more important things. She adds,“In our country, there are so many other important issues that the media needs to focus on including the Assam floods, rising number of Covid-19 patients, domestic violence, rapes etc.

Khan also says people who voice their opinion on the SSR case should let the CBI investigate and come to a conclusion before giving out a verdict of their own. She also thinks a media trial can damage one’s career and can change his/her life. She might not be able to face anyone. You are destroying people by simply blaming and trolling them. It can detrimental. It can destroy someone, especially in this pandemic when everyone is fragile and sensitive. Let the truth come out.”

SSR Niece Mallika Singh

Meanwhile, as these actresses are focussing on Rhea’s end, Sushant’s niece Mallika Singh voices out her own opinion. Not siding with the previously mentioned actresses, Singh takes to Twitter to state, “I’m surprised that right now, some people are suddenly remembering what “pain of a family” and “standing up for a colleague” means.”
