The Narcotics Control Bureau probing the drug angle in SSR Case, had earlier arrested Showik Chakraborty, SSR’s house manager Samuel Miranda and house help Dipesh Sawant.
On the 3rd day of NCB questioning, Rhea Chakraborty has been arrested. She has been charged under various sections of the NDPS Act for her alleged role in the drugs angle.
As per India Today, NCB has arrested Rhea Chakraborty on charges of drug procurement and consumption, under the following Sections of the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act 1985 – Section 27 (a), Section 20 (b), Section 8 (c), Section 28, Section 29.
Rhea Chakraborty has been taken into custody and is to be taken to Sion Hospital for medical test. She is likely to be produced before a magistrate through video conferencing for remand in the evening.
As per HT report, “Rhea has been arrested and due process of informing the family has been completed,” said deputy director of NCB, K P S Malhotra.
According to TOI report, Rhea reportedly confessed that she ‘might have smoked a joint’. She had reportedly confessed earlier of procuring drugs for Sushant.
Rhea has also reportedly revealed names of several actors, directors and producers who are allegedly related to a drugs cartel to NCB. She even allegedly confessed that she had done drugs on the behest of Sushant.
Soon after her arrest, her lawyer Satish Maneshinde said, “Travesty of Justice. Three Central Agencies hounding a single woman, just because she was in love with a drug addict and was suffering from mental health issues for several years under the care of five leading psychiatrists in Mumbai, who ended up committing suicide due to consumption of illegally administered medicines and used drugs.”
Satish Maneshinde had previously stated, “Sushant Singh Rajput, as a matter of fact, was consuming drugs much before Rhea came in his life. Rhea knows that he was consuming drugs even on the sets of ‘Kedarnath’ when it was being shot in 2016-2017. It is not an addiction that he acquired after Rhea came in his life. He was consuming drugs even against medical advise. It is a case of a person who consumed it against medical advice and requests from Rhea.”
