He was the youngest son of legendary actor Raj Kapoor and had two brothers, both superstars in their own right, Randhir Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor. However, Rajiv’s career graph wasn’t as high as his two brothers or their father because of one particular reason.

Kapoor says the best film he had offered the audience was the 1985 hit ‘Ram Teri Ganga Maili. The reason why his career didn’t take off for a huge success was because he was constantly compared to his uncle Shammi Kapoor.

“As far as my career is concerned, Ram Teri Ganga Maili is the best film I did. The other films didn’t do well, but not all were bad. The sad part was that everybody wanted to project me like Shammi Kapoor, because I looked like him,” Rajiv Kapoor had once said.

Rajiv Kapoor had then said, “To summarise in simple language – hit is fit. If your movies did well things would be on a different tangent. I did some nice films which had good music, but not many did well.
