THIS Aishawary Rai Starrer Was The 1ST INSURED Bollywood Movie!

With big-budget movies, there’s always a bigger risk of things going awry.

Even if we say, like Pratik Gandhi ‘Risk hai toh ishq hai’… that’s hardly applicable when it comes to film production.

From the death of a crew member, bodily injury, damage to property/equipment on sets, natural disasters and more, film insurance helps protect against potential liability claims!

Now, though Bollywood has been around since the 1930s, the concept of film insurance gained popularity only from 90s onwards. Did you know which Bollywood movie was the 1st one ever to get insured?

Taal was insured for a sum of 110 million

As per Business Standard, the Aishwarya Rai Bachchan-Akshaye Khanna starrer ‘Taal’ was the first movie to kickstart the film insurance trend in the industry. Filmmaker Subhash Ghai had the movie insured for a whopping sum of 110 million with United India Insurance in 1998.
