Did You Know THESE ADHM Scenes Were Reportedly Inspired By KJO’s Real-Life Experiences?

Karan Johar had poured his heart out in his 2016 directorial ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ which starred Anushka Sharma and Ranbir Kapoor in the lead.

Did you know that certain scenes in the film were heavily inspired from KJO’s real-life, personal experiences?

ADHM scenes that were inspired by KJO’s life

That’s right. KJO had opened up about this in his book ‘An Unsuitable Boy’.

“With Ae Dil Hai Mushil, I feel I’ve put out my first personal piece of work. I don’t want to say it’s an autobiography because there’s a lot of fiction in it but there are scenes and conversations that are very true to what happened in my life. I’m pretty much Ranbir Kapoor in the film, and the film is all about him and his broken heart.”

For instance, this dialogue between Ayan and Alizeh is rooted in a true incident – “Rishtey jab jismani ho jaate hain toh kahin na kahin dosti mit jaati hai. Pyaar mein junoon hai par dosti mein sukoon hai aur main nahi chahti ki hamare beech ka sukoon kabhi chala jaaye.”

KJO had written in his book, “The person I was in love with told me, ‘I’m glad we’re not having sex. But I was also told, you’re the most important person in my life, you’re my family, you’re my everything, you’re just not my lover. This happened when I was thirty-five. It’s taken me so many years to get over it. I realize that sometimes heartbreak is a luxury.”

Unrequited Love? Who can forget SRK’s cameo, spouting off the lines – “Ek tarfa pyaar ki taaqat hi kuch aur hoti hai. Aur rishton ki tarah yeh do logon mein nahin bant ti.”

Talking about this, KJO had written – “I believe in this very strongly. That power of love is mine. To love someone is such a feeling of power, because even if you don’t get that love back, you still have it. I look at the love I had as a source of great strength.”

The 3rd person – aka when Fawad Khan’s character Ali enters the equation.

“It hurt only because what was said to me at that point was that this would be a relationship forever, nobody could come in its way, but somebody did. A third person changed the dynamic. There’s always separation because of a third person,” Karan had written.
