Taapsee Pannu’s next – the romantic thriller ‘Haseen Dillruba’ is all set for a Netflix release on July 2.
And now, reports about her next projects are trickling in, and looks like the ‘Thappad’ actress is eager to explore the sci-fi space.
Taapsee is already working with Anurag Kashyap for the sci-fi thriller ‘Do Baaraa’. As per the latest buzz, she also has reportedly bagged the lead role in a pan-Indian, sci-fi film.
A source informed TOI that the movie is tentatively titled ‘Alien’ and will be helmed by Barath Neelakantan (of K-13 fame).
“It will be a science-fiction film that deals with aliens; in fact, its title will be Alien. But the story will be a totally fresh take on the genre. It will not have any influences of the many Hollywood alien films we have seen so far. The director has come up with a premise that explores how aliens might be in a country like India.”
The source further added that it would be a big-budget film, with 10 crores allocated to VFX alone!
“The film will be shot in multiple languages and will be a proper pan-Indian film. It involves extensive pre-production work as it is a visual effects-heavy film, with the VFX budget alone amounting to over 10 crore. The team has already begun the prep work. The makers are actually trying to keep this a ‘Make in India’ project.”
Taapsee also has a horror-comedy film with Vijay Sethupathi titled ‘Annabelle Subramaniam’. On the Bollywood front, she has ‘Shabaash Mithu’, ‘Rashmi Rocket’ and ‘Looop Lapeta’.
