Arjun Kapoor was last seen in the Netflix film ‘Sardar Ka Grandson’.
The Ishaqzaade actor celebrates his 36th birthday today. Did you know he was REJECTED by Aditya Chopra 3-4 times for his debut movie?
That’s right. Arjun gave a stellar performance in ‘Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar’ recently. However, he’s often received flak over being a star kid (son of producer Boney Kapoor).
In a throwback interview, Arjun had opened up on being rejected and how Aditya had said he would take him as a ‘character actor’.
He had commented- “I have grown up in this films industry so I have seen the highs and lows through my parents, so maybe being a star kid is that they prepare for the good and bad slightly fast. You get opportunities easily in the beginning. Maybe, I would have asked my father to pick up the phone and meet Aditya Chopra but I chose the path which I felt was right, meeting casting directors and going for an audition.
Aditya Chopra rejected me three to four times and I don’t know whether it had anything to do with my surname. When he saw my photos, he said, ‘I can take you as a character actor’. Then I auditioned again for ‘Ishaqzaade’ and I got the film. I don’t think my surname had anything to do when he was rejecting me either.”
He had further told PTI – “It was only after he saw me working relentlessly behind the scenes, giving each candid moment my best shot as an artist and working hard as a team member while I was a part of his crew when he decided to make me the male protagonist for Ishaqzaade. He chose me for my charisma, humour, and chichorapan.”
Arjun had concluded by saying, “People who come from outside, they really have it tough and I respect people like Ayushmann Khurrana and Vicky Kaushal for that matter.”
On the work front, Arjun will next be seen in ‘Bhoot Police’ along with Saif Ali Khan. He also has ‘Ek Villain Returns’.
