Did You Know SRK Had A Different Childhood Name Given By Grandma?

From Badshah Of Bollywood, King Khan to King Of Romance… Shah Rukh Khan wears a lot of labels proudly.

SRK once revealed that his name means ‘prince-like face’ while appearing on ‘The Anupam Kher Show’. He also had an interesting tidbit to share from childhood!

SRK reveals childhood name

SRK confessed that his grandmother had named him ‘Abdur Rehman’. The name wasn’t registered anywhere though.

SRK had commented, “The name wasn’t registered anywhere but she wanted me to accept the name Abdur Rehman. I felt weird. Just imagine Baazigar starring Abdur Rehman in and as. It wouldn’t sound good. Shah Rukh Khan in and as Baazigar sounds better.”

The Devdas actor further added that his cousins would pull his leg over the name.

“When I grew up, my cousins started to tease me by singing. They would say, ‘when you get married we’ll sing Abdur Rehman ki main Abdur Rehmaniya.’ It was some old song,” he said.

We gotta say, SRK by any other name would still be a Bollywood legend. On the work front, he has resumed shooting for Pathan. He will then allegedly move onto Rajkumar Hirani’s film with Taapsee Pannu. And later, he’ll pick up Atlee’s film, for which it’s being rumoured that South actress Nayanthara has been approached.
