Shilpa Shetty’s businessman husband Raj Kundra was arrested on 19th July for the alleged porn films case.
He was produced before court today and his bail plea was rejected. His police custody has been extended till 27th July.
Mumbai Police also said his bank accounts should be probed as they suspect the profit from the alleged pornography business was being used for online betting.
As per Midday report, wanted accused – Arvind Srivastava alias Yash Thakur, had emailed the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) alleging that Raj had avoided arrest till now by bribing Crime Branch officers with Rs 25 lakhs!
The ACB had then forwarded the email to the Mumbai Police chief’s office in April. A senior officer told the portal – “The ACB investigates only if there is demand for money and it can lay a trap. Since, in this case, the money had already exchanged hands, as alleged, the complaint was forwarded to the concerned department (Mumbai police) to initiate an action.”
Meanwhile, Raj Kundra’s lawyer has called his arrest ‘illegal’ and said that they will move High Court. He had also argued that the content under scrutiny was ‘vulgar but not porn’ since ‘actual intercourse’ wasn’t involved.
Shilpa Shetty’s house was also searched by officials today as part of the probe.
